The following rules and regulations must be maintained in the library premises. The students are advised to go through these rules before using the library.

  1. Working Hours:  Library remains open from 09:30 am to 06:30 pm on every working day except Sundays and holidays. Circulation hours are fixed from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  1. Keep Silence: Silence must be maintained inside the library. Chatting or gossiping and loitering in the library is strictly prohibited. Users should keep in mind that the library is under electronic surveillance.
  1. About Student Membership Card:
    1. A membership card will be provided to the students upon producing the photocopy of the admission receipt of the college and of address proof.
    2. Membership card is to be filled up legibly and in accordance with the instruction given.
    3. Two stamp-size color photographs are required at the time of filling up of membership card. Without photo, the cards will not be valid.
    4. Every student of the college using the reading room or lending section must produce his / her membership card on demand. No service will be entertained to them without a proper membership card.
    5. The membership card is not transferable i.e. students must use their own membership card. One cannot issue books and other documents showing another membership card. In such cases, a proper authorization letter must be shown to the concerned library staff.
    6. In case of loss of a membership card duplicate cards will be issued against a General Diary Report from the Local Police Station along with a fine of Rs. 50/- (electronic membership card) or Rs. 10/- (normal membership card).
  1. About Faculty Membership Card:
    1. A faculty member / non-teaching staff seeking membership in the college library must produce a photocopy of his / her appointment letter and two stamp-size color photographs.
    2. Loss of a library card should be reported at once in writing. A duplicate card will be issued to the concerned member at no extra cost.
  1. Change of Address or Telephone Number:  Any change of address (permanent or temporary) or telephone number should be intimated to the In Charge or concerned staff of the library in writing.
  1. Borrowing facility for Students:
    1. Books will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis.
    2. A maximum of Eight (8) books will be issued (subject to availability) to the students at a time for lending which can be kept up to the semester exam.
  1. Borrowing facility for faculty members:
    1. Faculty members can issue a maximum of ten (10) books at a time for the period of one month which may be renewed thereafter.
    2. Part-Time / Contractual / Probationary / Visiting / Guest Faculty members can issue 2 books at a time for a period of one month. They have to submit the books to the library on or before the last date of the contract. (The lending rules for the Part Time / Contractual / Probationary / Visiting / Guest Faculty members will be communicated through a circular from time to time.)
  1. Borrowing of Other Resources:
    1. Reference Books: Reference books can be borrowed for a limited period (7 days) depending upon the demand and availability of the concerned book.
    2. Periodicals: Periodicals (Journals / Magazines / Newspapers) cannot be issued to the members. They are to be used in the reading room only.
    3. Electronic Resources: eBooks, Online Journals, and CDs/DVDs, forms the electronic resources which are available in the digital section of the library. CDs/DVDs (available with books and magazines) can be issued to the members for a limited period.
    4. Questions Papers: The library has a repository of previous years' university question papers (soft copy) which are available in the digital section of the library.
    5. Proper entries to be made in the reading room issue register and periodicals issue register before using the reference books and periodicals respectively. These will help the library authorities to keep a record of the daily utilization of resources.

 

  1. Returning of books:
    1. Books should be returned or renewed within the stipulated date stamped on the due date slip, otherwise a fine of Re. 1/- will be imposed on the students per day for each book till the return of the book. However, there is no fine system for faculty members.
    2. If the book is lost or damaged or badly mutilated after lending from the library, the last borrower of the book will be held responsible. He/she should replace the book in good condition
    3. If the book is in demand, the period of the loan cannot be extended.
    4. Books issued for reading purposes cannot be taken outside the library. If found, a fine of Rs. 2/- will be imposed on the student per book per day till the submission of the book.
    5. If the book is found to be damaged or badly mutilated during lending, it should be immediately brought to the notice of the concerned library staff.

  1. Members are directed not to write or highlight anything inside the books taken from the library.
  1. Users must not leave any book, borrowed for reading or lending purposes, on the reading desks. They must submit the books in the circulation counter before leaving the library.

 

  1. Personal Belongings: Bags are not allowed inside the library. They are to be kept in the place provided outside the library. However, they may carry their valuables like mobiles, laptops, purse, and other personal belongings inside the reading room. Authorities will not be responsible for any kind of theft of personal belongings inside or outside the library.
  1. Mobile phones should be kept in silent mode inside the reading room. Attending phone calls or playing songs or movies or videos on laptops/mobiles / iPods etc. inside the reading room is strictly prohibited.
  1. Refreshments of any kind shall not be taken in the library premises.
  1. Feedback Register: There is a feedback register in the library where a student/faculty member can duly put his / her demand for any document or grievance regarding the non-availability of documents or of library services. The register is available with the In Charge of the library.
  1. Any kind of misbehavior or unfair activities inside the library will be strictly dealt with.
  1. Library Clearance Certificate:  An outgoing student/faculty/staff must submit the membership cards along with books and other documents borrowed from the library in order to obtain a library clearance certificate.
  1. These rules may be revised or amended from time to time and the revised or amended rules will be applicable to all the members irrespective of their dates of registration in the library.

 

Library Hours

The library remains open on all weekdays and remains closed on Sundays and other Institute Holidays.

Monday to Friday: 09:30 am – 06:00 pm

Saturday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Circulation Hours: 10:00 am – 05:00 pm
