Qurbaani... the spirit of sacrifice
Keeping in mind and adhering to all of the restrictions imposed by the Government of India to protect the country and its citizens from the second wave of the Corona pandemic, The Club of Performing Arts of Techno International New Town – Hridmajharae decided to host an online cultural programme "Qurbaani… the spirit of sacrifice" on July 25, 2021, celebrating the occasions of Rath Yatra and Eid-ul-Fitr. With the blessings of technology, the event was streamed live on the official Facebook page of the club. The event began at 5 PM and all participating students and faculty members were requested to join the live session with the help of the link shared with them. WhatsApp groups of all classes were made separately and the teachers had to make sure all the students received the link to view the live event on Facebook. The Master of the Ceremony was Prof. Dr Sanjay Das Neogi of the Civil Engineering Department, who skilfully managed the programme’s flow and atmosphere. The event was inaugurated by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran in Arabic, English and Bengali, followed by the Director of the college, Prof. Dr R. T. Goswami, addressing the audience, where he extolled the tireless efforts of the club in organizing cultural events throughout the year to celebrate the spirit of unity in diversity. The main event began with the opening song performed by Swarnadeepa Ghosh of the CSE Department which set the rhythm of the programme. Following this, all other students and faculty members through their stellar performances in music, dance and recitation upheld the spirit of sacrifice and unity. This event was the true epitome of unity in diversity. Finally, we were all asked to sing the National Anthem, which has become an Indian ritual that is performed at the beginning or end of every event. This year's celebrations were unique in comparison to previous years. Despite its limitations, this event was a huge success because it instilled in us a sense of unity, love, positivity, and hope. It demonstrated that we can be strong if we work together.
