An Interactive Session with renowned psychologist, Dr. Arundhati Sarkar, was organised at Techno India College of Technology on Friday, 18th August, 2018. The session was attended by the Heads of the Institute, the respective HODs and a substantial number of teachers. Dr. Sarkar is Head,Manochetna Academic and Research Centre (MARC), and has been working in the field of psychiatry and counselling with acclaim for decades. She talked about the need of counselling the students, especially in the First year, as the young minds move into a new realm of opportunities and temptations. She focussed on problem areas like absent-mindedness, lack of focus and concentration as well as the adolescent problems of late teenage and early twenties. The HODs and senior professors came forward to voice the problems that the teachers have identified in the students in general. It was a candid discussion between the Doctor and the teachers, which was immensely beneficial in opening up avenues of possible solutions. The prospects of organising elaborate workshops for the teachers and counselling sessions for the students were discussed.
