Model based learning is a very helpful and effective way of learning. Let, assume a student attending a class of machine design without knowing anything about component. But he have to design those mechanical components like Knuckle joint, Cotter joint, Flange coupling, Riveted joint, Screw jack etc.. Let us discuss regarding the design of screw jack. It was also found that most of the students are not familiar about the screw jack. The students will face lots of problems  in designing just by the imaginary component. Even, maximum students don't know: what is a screw jack and how is it works? How it looks like? How many components are there? What are the specific roles of those components?

So, the students will loose their concentration during learning and get bored instead of developing interest. Effective learning cannot be possible without visualizing the components in any technical field. Due to unavailability of components, the faculties use chalk and board to draw the components and describe that for visualization. For betterment the faculty can show the assembly drawing as well as individual pictures of related components for visualizing the objects. To make it more comfortable and easy to understand, the faculty member may show a video presentation about that component before starting the class. But, best result may be found by showing a actual component or a model of the same. The students will be best in visualization and get familiar with the components. Automatically, the students will be more attentive in lecture class and ultimately focused on the object. Obviously, it will much more fruitful to understood for students as well as easy to deliver for the faculties also. This method may make an impression at their memory for life-long remembering. There are many models that can be made in the workshop and can be shown to the students.
